Here are a few precisions.
1. Why 31 Prompts?
Searching for prompts is harder than one might think, 49 as most lottery have proved more complicated than I thought. 31 might be a strange number to you, but I thought that some people might like to use dates to play.
2. Why 2 different ways to play?
It takes some time to search and compile a list of prompts, so I thought about this compromise, this way all 31 prompts have a chance to be picked and used as a story inspiration.
3. Why seven numbers?
Well, seven is a great number, highly symbolical, isn't it?
4. Why 1,000 words minimum per story?
I know it's hard for some people, including me. It's a challenge, so there must be an appropriate word count. You can write 10 drabbles for a prompt, though.
It only takes 6,100 words to win the lottery! (A minimum word count of 1,000 words for 6 prompts and a minimum word count of 100 words for the bonus prompt.)
5. What is the bonus prompt?
The seventh number. The last one you pick on your ticket (for the variation). Basically, this one is special. It's a free word count, 100 words minimum.
6. What is the joker prompt?
If the joker prompt appears on your ticket, you simply replace it by the one of your choice. Remember you can't write 2 stories for the same prompt, though.
7. Do I have to write the seven prompts?
Absolutely not! There is no pressure, write what you can or want. Each contribution is greatly appreciated. ;)
8. What do I win?
If you write your seven stories and post or link them in the community in time, congratulations! You won the lottery. You'll receive a shiny banner to gloat wherever you see fit!
9. What if I feel like writing a prompt I haven't signed up for?
Technically, you cannot post it in the community while the round is on. You will have to wait for the Amnesty Period.
10. Can I write both fan fiction, and original?
Absolutely. Write what you want, really. As long as you respect the word count. Everything is fine.
11. Do I have to write all stories for the same fandom/pairing?
No. You don't sign up for a pairing, you sign up to write. So write in as many fandoms as you want, or all stories for the same fandom or pairing, it's absolutely fine!
12. Can I sign up for both challenges?
No, you can't. Sorry! You have to choose! It wouldn't be fair to the other contestants that some people have 14 prompts to inspire them while others only have 7. And what if you had the same prompt twice? You'd have to write two stories, and the challenge could stop being fun.
13. What is the Amnesty Period?
After the fest is over, everyone can pick prompts of their choice from the table and write for them. This way, all prompts have a chance to have a story attached. Entries during this period are 100 words minimum. Complete your table or pick other prompts, whatever works for you. ;)
To win a contestant must have posted their 7 stories before that period begins.
